How to Use SXR

Simple and straightforward.

During use, the surgeon selects the appropriate depth probe according to the diameter and depth of the final drill used in the osteotomy. The SXR base is then inserted into the XCP RINN bite block, the most suitable threaded hole is selected, and the chosen probe is securely screwed into place.

Once assembled, the depth gauge (attached to the bite block) is gently inserted into the osteotomy. A gauze pad is positioned on the opposite side of the bite block, and the patient is instructed to bite down to stabilize the SXR during radiographic exposure.

This setup allows the acquisition of a periapical radiograph in which the probe remains perfectly parallel to the film, and both are perpendicular to the X-ray beam. Such precise geometric alignment minimizes distortion and enhances measurement accuracy, providing the clinician with high-confidence radiographic information that contributes to safer and more predictable implant placement.

However, accuracy is operator-dependent. There is an inherent learning curve during which the clinician gradually develops the skills required to optimize the system’s performance and fully incorporate it into the surgical workflow. Proper selection of the depth gauge, the threaded hole on the base, the appropriate film size, and accurate film positioning are all critical for achieving optimal results.
